ALC Women's Ministry

All women who attend American Lutheran Church have the opportunity to participate in a variety of women’s groups or ministries. These include Book Groups, Circles, WELCA Bible studies and meetings, Prayer Shawl ministry, Quilters, Holiday Bazaar, and others.

Group leaders and the Women’s Ministries Board work together to provide a variety of learning, outreach, and interest activities for the women of our church.

There is a wide variety of opportunities to learn and serve with the Women’s Ministry at American Lutheran Church of Sun City!

Connecting Threads: Quilting and Prayer Shawls This talented group meets every Monday year ’round to make quilts that are sold for missions and crochet or knit shawls that are shared with people in crisis that remind them through warming touch of God’s presence.

The Good Book Club meets at 10:30 am in Education A & B to discuss a new book on the second Monday of each month. The highlighted book of the month is published in the ALC Outreach two to three months in advance.

Global Health Ministries meets on the fourth Monday monthly from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to spin bandages in the Fellowship Hall. Bandages support Lutheran Hospitals in the developing world.

The Holiday Bazaar is a major fundraiser for Women’s Ministry projects. Held each November, our ministry offers Lefse, Raffle Baskets, a Holiday Boutique, Plants, Boxed Cookies, Quilts and Crafts and Cafe au Lait, a special spot where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and a treat!

Memorial Receptions are provided as needed for families of the bereaved. Volunteers assist with set-up, plating, serving and clean-up.

Operation Christmas Child is an opportunity to share the love of God with children in need. Each Fall the Women’s Ministry distributes boxes that can be filled with items for specific for children of particular age and gender. Boxes are collected in November and distributed through this International Outreach.

There is a need for the following items to assist particular charities:

  • White Cotton t-shirts or sheets for bandage spinning and diapers through Global Health Ministries
  • Cancelled stamps for Sons of Norway
  • Pull-tabs for Ronald McDonald House
  • Hotel or sample size toiletries for various charities
  • Eyeglasses and hearing aids for the Lions Club
