440 placeholderVisitation Team
ALC recently created a visitation team to take Holy Communion to those who are unable to make worship. In Holy Communion, God nourishes faith, forgives sin, and calls us to be witnesses to the Gospel. During a visit there’s an opportunity to share in Christian fellowship, read Scripture, pray, and then participate in the Lord's Supper. We are looking for people who would like to be a visitor. If you would like a visit please contract Pastor David at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call the church at (623) 974-2512.

440 placeholderCare Home Team
There are many members of ALC who live in care homes around the west valley of Phoenix. The church has dedicated people who go to these care homes to keep them included in the life of the congregation. Specifically, these care home visitors provide a devotion and Holy Communion. If you live in El Dorado, Sierra Winds, Royal Oaks, The Palms, or Freedom Plaza, please check the events calendar at your facility. If there are multiple people from ALC who live at a care home not listed, please let the church know.

440 placeholderGrief Journey Group
The grief support group, Grief Journey, meets on Tuesdays at 1:30pm - 3:00pm in the Fellowship Hall Lounge, co-facilitated by Linda Shirck and Susan Beach, both of whom have extensive experience in grief counseling. This group provides a safe and supportive place where bereaved persons can mourn, share feelings, review the loss, and learn new coping skills. It also includes an educational component. Topics include: Understanding Grief, Self-care, Emotional Reactions, Possessions, Coping with the Holidays and others. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Linda Shirck at 623-308-4032 for more information. Group will resume on August 2.

440 placeholderCard Making Class
The card making class meets on Mondays at 1:30 PM in classroom C. We make special cards for the church to mail out to people who are homebound, in the hospital, or who had families members who have passed away. Cards are also used for group members to take home for their personal use. Lastly, we make cards for the Woman’s ministry to sell and make money for their various needs.  Outside of taking a collection for supplies, there is no additional cost.  Most of the people who attend this group have never made cards before so there is instruction to help. That means anyone, no prior skills are required! If you are willing to try, come join us!

440 placeholderPrayer Shawl
The Prayer Shawl Ministry includes those who knit or crochet prayer shawls at home or on Mondays at ALC with Sewing and Crafts. Priority distribution is done by our Pastors to those hospitalized.

440 placeholderPrayer
One of the unseen activities in our congregation is the important ministry of praying for those in special need.  American Lutheran Church has two main prayer group groups, the prayer chain and intercessory prayer. If you would like to receive the prayer chain emails please contact the pastor for care. If you would like to join the intercessory prayer group they meet every Monday at 2:30 p.m. via a conference call number.
