1975 Our first worship service at Sun Dial Recreation Center with 187 in attendance
1977 The first worship in our brand new Sanctuary at 17200 N. Del Webb Blvd with 632 members

2017 $4M of renovations and improvements were completed for the entire campus and parking lot, including the sanctuary. The campus was further augmented with a storage building, administration offices, and commercial grade kitchen.

With a superb organ and acoustics for spirited worship, ALC has also won recognition as a preferred venue for musical performance groups through our Concert Series including The Phoenix Chorale, Phoenix Boys Choir, Phoenix Symphony, ProMusica of Arizona, and others.

From 187 attendees in 1976 to 632 members in 1977, the church experienced rapid growth and is said to be the first church north of Bell Road in Sun City’s early development. Twenty years later, in 1996, membership had grown to 1642. By 2005, church membership was at 1,526. Current membership is 1,270 with an average weekly attendance (pre-pandemic) of 884. Quarterly membership orientations welcome over 50 new members annually. We welcome new members to participate in our faith community!

1986 ALC became a Stephen Ministry congregation with the efforts of Rev. Otto Wedel. With 114 trained Stephen Ministers (52 currently active), we are one of the top three churches in the world in terms of size of our Stephen minister program.
1992 Wednesday Night Alive program was launched to offer mid-week fellowship opportunity and worship experience
1992 ALC Members Malcolm & Maybelle Estrem gifted the Grand Canyon Synod with the Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center
2016 Designated Sun City’s “Best Places to Worship” and received the “Servant of Christ” award from Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest
Late 1980's ALC began an on-going relationship with Pan De Vida Lutheran Church in Surprise, AZ with after-school tutoring, summer Bible camp, and financial and food support.
2019 Navajo Mission Walk for Water raised over $50K to help build a new well on the Navajo Nation. We continue to support the Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission at Rock Point with clothing, food, and supplies.
